Incredibly Life-Like Animal Sculptures Made Of Wood Chips

Russian sculptor Sergey Bobkov has created a collection of amazingly realistic animal sculptures using nothing but Siberian Cedar wood chips.

To construct beautifully intricate and complex sculptures, the artist first chips off strips of wood then soaks them in water, before carving them to fit the texture and shape of each animal.

In order to accurately depict not only the physical traits, but also the expressive attributes, of the animals, Bobkov spends a significant amount of time studying their anatomy, habits and movements.

Spending up to 12 hours on his work a day, each sculpture can take the artist months to complete.

Having already completed 15 life-sized sculptures of Siberian wildlife, his collection is set to grow even larger.
