Amazing Carpets Made Of Coffee, Pasta, And Other Household Items

Dutch artist collective WE MAKE CARPETS—comprising of Marcia Nolte, Bob Waardenburg and Stijn van der Vleuten—creates site-specific “carpets” that are really rug-like installations made of household items.

The installations can be hung like a tapestry or draped over steps and objects, which makes them appear like an actual woven carpet.

Every object is arranged carefully to forms a graphic pattern—common household items like plastic forks, paving tiles, cotton balls, pegs and cocktail pins are used to create these unusual carpets.

The beauty of the carpets compels one to reflect on our consumer society and its wasteful culture.
