Cities of Moldy Bread Create A Decaying Dystopia

After reading an article that imagined what the world would be like if humans went extinct, Swedish artist Johanna Mårtensson built an edible city made of bread in her studio.

By photographing it once every day for six months, the moldy city started to decay, resembling apocalyptic landscapes in science fiction movies.

While this metaphorical city seems to project a bleak future for humanity, the artist remains optimistic and feels that this project is all about the “creation of a new process”.
