Up-Cycled Trash Transformed Into Intriguing Underwater Installations

Inspired by the waste left behind in the Mediterranean sea, Mathieu Goussin and Hortense Le Calvez decided to create imaginary creatures and civilizations underwater.

With an old sailing boat as a workshop, these installations are first sketched out before they are put together.

The currents of the sea bring these artworks to life, which are photographed soon after.

Some installations, like the one titled “Air Spray”, have air pumps attached to them, a detail that drew from the artists’ experience as divers.

Quirky and whimsical, these installations combine sculpture and photography to create something new and intriguing—scroll down to see more images of them.
