Ads Depict Fictional Characters Dying To Encourage People To Read

“When you spend all those hours playing war video games, it’s not just your enemies you finish off. Save a book. Read a book. The Little Prince. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry 1943″.

With the emergence of video games and mobile phones, reading has taken a step back.

However, the Madrid Book Publishers Association has collaborated with Grey Group Spain, running a series of ads to encourage people to read.

By depicting famous eponymous characters like The Little Prince and Moby Dick on the vestiges of death, these ads appeal to the sympathy of the readers, encouraging them to “save” a book by reading it.

Through these posters, these ads show that readers have the power of bringing books to life.

The Little Prince ad was given an award at Gold Press Craft Lion for art direction at Cannes International Festival of Creativity.

“When you spend all those hours gaming on your mobile, not everything you destroy earns you points. Save a book. Read a book. Don Quixote, Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra 1605”

“When you spend all those hours watching the most popular tv series in history, it’s not just its cast that ends up lost. Save a book. Read a book. Moby Dick, Herman Melville 1851.”
