What The West Coast Would Look Like If Sea Levels Continued Rising

Artist and researcher Nickolay Lamm has created a series of thought-provoking images that shows us what the West Coast in America would look like in the future if sea levels continued rising.

Using data from Climate Central, Lamm applied the data to stock photos—digitally altering them to show areas in the West Coast—like San Francisco, San Diego and Venice Beach—submerged underwater.

“Sea level rise seems so far off in the future that people either don’t care about it or don’t believe that it will happen,” Lamm told Co.Exist. “By illustrating what sea level rise will look like in real life, I’m hopoing to make our rising oceans a bigger issue on people’s minds.”
