Dutch artist Sander Wassink breathes new life into discarded and left over materials from his projects by fashioning them into objects for new purposes.
His latest project features counterfeit shoes that are cut up and stitched together to create one-of-a-kind hybrid footwear. They were on display at Beijing Design Week, which was held recently from 26 September to 3 October.
Wassink set up the Dashilar Flagship Store during the event, and hired local designers to cut and rebuild cheap knockoff shoes to craft into new pieces for sale. The resulting designs may veer on the side of impracticality, but are undeniably wacky and imaginative.
