Dreamy, Other-Worldly Photos Of Fireflies Lighting Up A Forest

Okayama-based Japanese photographer Tsuneaki Hiramatsu has been taking pictures of fireflies living in forests outside of his home-city for years.

To capture these dancing spots of light in the dark forests, he takes a series of 8-second long exposure shots, before stitching the individual photographs together to form the final image.

The resulting pictures are wonderfully dream-like—the fireflies show up as bright yellow dots against the deep green and blue of the vegetation, looking like magical fairy-lights.

Head over to the photographer’s blog and portfolio page to view more of his lovely work.
