Japanese shoe designer Masaya Kushino has launched a new collection named “Bird-Witched”—the designs are put together using “historical Nishijin-ori textiles” and realistic bird claw heels sculpted by Takashi Nakmure.
The stiletto heels embodies precise textual elements of bird feathers, claws and forms that emulates a mystical bird species—his designs were inspired by an 18th century “legendary painter” Jakuchu Ito, whom incorporated realistic aesthetics of animals into his paintings with a “tinge of insanity”.
His collection will be showcased during the “Killer Heels” exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum from 10 September 2014 to 15 February 2015.
More avant-garde shoe collections from the designer can be found on his website.
