The New Record For ‘World’s Most Expensive Starbucks Drink' Is Now US$54.75

A man by the name of Andrew Chifari has broken Beau Chevassus’s record for ordering the “world’s most expensive” Starbucks drink”.

The drink in question is called the Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino. It contains 60 shots of espresso and costs US$54.75 in total.

Chifari made his way to his local Starbucks outlet in Dallas, Texas with his 128-ounce glass and a Starbucks Gold member loyalty card. As cardholders are entitled to a free drink for every 12th purchase, Chifari used this perk to pay for the behemoth of a drink.

Once he entered the outlet, Chifari proposed his idea to the staff, who helped him out.

“The $47.30 guy put in two bananas, strawberry, matcha powder, pumpkin spice and lots of other things that probably don’t go well together and definitely don’t go well with 40 shots of espresso,” he explained. Chifari opted for another strategy instead by asking for as many shots as his glass could contain.

It took 10 minutes for the staff to make the drink, and Chifari tweeted this “accomplishment” on Twitter before drinking 20 shots. The daring man eventually finished his drink on Wednesday.

Starbucks representative Linda Mills commented that customers are not encouraged to order such a drink as it is “inedible” and “unsafe”. It is also important to note that Chifari’s drink contains 4.5 grams of caffeine, which is nearly half of 10 grams, the amount that is lethal to adults.

What do you think—do you applaud this man for this feat, or do you think he is foolish?
