Brilliant, Innovative Design Turns Old Packaging Into Educational Toys

This new designs help turn unwanted, old packaging into educational tools, which will benefit children from low income families.

As a participant in IDEO.org's Amplify challenge, design agency FLEX and Maurizo Bricola have observed the omnipresence of packaging, which sparked the idea of combining that with educational play.

Some of their designs include ‘Bottle Stack’, where bottles are turned into stackable blocks that help children learn numbers, spelling and basic sentence structure. Another features a label for a peanut butter jar that encourages kids to tell a story with a series of pictures.

One challenge is that this limits the space companies have to advertise their products. The team is working closely with food companies that are interested in developing the idea. Read more here.
