Brilliant Transforming ‘Open/Close’ Sign Uses Simple Clockwork Mechanics

Take a look at this innovative redesign of the standard open / closed signs that we usually see at shop windows.

This “revolutionary” sign was made by Ikeda Yosuke, a mime performance artist whose routines often use black and white signs that change meaning with a simple movement.

This device is surprisingly simple and works by incorporating two weighted strips that hang below the letters ‘en’ so that they transform to ‘se’ in the word ‘close’.
